What exactly is the Gavel Club ?
Gavel club is the kids version (under 18) of the internationally renowned Toastmasters.

How does the Gavel club help kids ?
Kids develop vital leadership and public speaking skills through their participation in the Gavel club. They take on leadership roles to manage the club and also take roles in the meeting. They work with team members and make decisions helping them foster leadership skills. During the meeting, they participate and engage with the team and participate in speaking activities building their self confidence in the comfort of family and friends.

How often does our Gavel Club meet ?
Every week on sunday 4.00pm PT/ 6.00pm EST/5.00pm CT through google meet for 1hour. Club accepts new members throughout the year

Is there any certification that we get on completion ? Who gives this certificate ?
There are two certificates you can earn through the Gavel Club, “Competent Communication” and “Competent Leadership.”

The “Competent Communication” certificate is earned by completing 10 speeches that focus on different aspects of public-speaking skills, as outlined in the Gavel club manual.

The “Competent Leadership” certificate also requires 10 projects to be completed that train on leadership skills. These projects are fulfilled by taking up roles during meetings and helping with the club.

Approximately it takes about 1 year to complete these projects and earn certificates.

How many times should we choose a meeting role to complete that role specific expectation ?
Meeting roles are rotated frequently among members to gain the full experience of the club and also, to satisfy certification requirements. Please consult the manuals to check what roles are required for certification.

Otherwise too, it is advisable to take up roles even if you are not comfortable with it. The purpose of Gavel Club is to practice your public speaking in a safe and friendly environment. And so, taking up all the different roles and particularly, with roles that you are not comfortable with, will benefit you in the long run.
